Education Programs Sponsorship

The Institute for Child and Family Health educational programs for three broad audiences: youth and families, adults, and schools and teachers. Corporations, organizations and individuals can provide financial support to these program areas while enjoying customized sponsorship benefits, which may include:

 

YOUTH & FAMILY PROGRAMS

All Aboard Educational Mobile Unit

The Mobile Unit is a “classroom on wheels” and provides intense reading instructions to kindergarten and first grade students in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.   Students receive individual instruction including the Waterford Early Reading Program, one-on-one tutoring, safety instruction from the City of Miami Police Officer, and family outreach services.
All-Aboard Tutoring/Mentoring Program targets kindergarten and first grade students who are academically at risk in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.   All-Aboard recruits, trains, places, monitors and supports volunteers to tutor and mentor one-on-one during the regular school day and at after school care programs.   Volunteers utilize the All-Aboard Picture Alphabet Book to help each student build a strong academic foundation in language arts and mathematics.   As mentors, volunteers help students develop self-esteem and life-skills.

Success Program

Psycho-educational services are provided to elementary and middle school students whose academic performance has been affected by a mental or emotional condition.  Services include social skills training, group therapy, social skills training, critical thinking skills training, motivational tutoring, and anger management training.

Youth Gang Summit

The Dade-Miami Criminal Justice Council and the Institute for Child and Family Health, Inc. host an Annual Gang Summit.   The goal of the Annual Gang Summit is to “Bridge Our Communities While Preventing Gang Violence.” The two-day event will increase collaboration and provide information to our local community regarding the gang culture.

 

ADULT PROGRAMS

Family Literacy Program

This program provides a comprehensive family literacy curriculum to families with children ages 0 – 7 residing in the Riverside Elementary School boundaries. The program is designed to improve the language and literacy skills of both parents and their children. It focuses on improving the children’s school readiness and success, while simultaneously supporting the language/literacy development of the parents.

 

SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS PROGRAMS

School Health Connect

Teams of School Social Workers, Nurses, and Health Technicians provide comprehensive health services at Miami Dade County Schools. Two public schools are served by the teams.  Social Workers provide assessment and consultation services, as well as, referrals.  The nurses provide over site of chronically medically ill children, monitors immunization compliance, oversees the delivery of prescription and over the counter medication, leads the team in addressing communicable disease outbreaks, and provides supervision to the health technician.  Health Technicians provide vision, hearing, and health screenings; handle minor medical emergencies caused by accidents and illnesses, link children with a medical home, and monitors chronically ill children.
