Internship Training Program
Mission
The main goal of the psychology internship program at ICFH is to contribute to the pre-doctoral intern’s development as a professional psychologist by providing a variety of clinical experiences in a multidisciplinary community mental health center setting.
Along with clinical experience and didactic training, becoming a psychologist entails a socialization process, including the maturation of self, the development of a sense of professional identity, respect for the scientific basis of clinical practice, an understanding of multicultural and diversity issues, and ethical growth through challenging professional experiences, and professional guidance.
The Psychology Internship Training Program at ICFH focuses on training pre-doctoral interns in child and adolescent evaluation, treatment, and consultation. Preference is given to applicants who have experience in working with children, adolescents, and families. The individual clinical skills, experiences, and interests of each intern are considered in carefully planning a program to provide training that is well balanced in major areas required for professional practice with children, adolescents, and families.
