Independent Living Skills
The primary goal of this program is to prepare youth in DCF custody who are aging out of the foster care system, and are preparing to transition to living independently in the community . The program is conducted by a team of Master's level clinicians trained to work with adolescents, individually, and in groups. The groups follow a social development model for reducing risk factors and enhancing protective factors. The goal is to enhance the likelihood that youth will engage in appropriate behaviors using new adaptive skills, and learn how to avoid inappropriate behaviors.
