Institute for Child and Family Health was started in 1945 as a small clinic located at, and working out of, Jackson Hospital. By the mid 1960’s, it had become The Child Guidance Clinic of Miami. In 1972, the name was changed to The Children’s Psychiatric Center, Inc. (CPC) and in 2007, the name was again to Institute for Child and Family Health (ICFH). The change was made to encompass all the services provided at ICFH. Throughout the years ICFH has consistently provided quality services to children and families in the South Florida community. ICFH currently has over 100 employees serving approximately 5000 children, adolescents, adults and families per year.
ICFH’s current programs provide services in five programmatic focus areas. Each of these programs utilizes performance & quality improvement measures to measure successes and areas of improvement needed. The programmatic focus areas are Child and Family Counseling, Early Childhood Services, Family Preservation Services, Substance Abuse Prevention and Literacy/Educational Services. ICFH provides its services at three centers located in northern and southern Miami-Dade and Broward and most services are provided where the clients live and/or participate in educational activities.
